Partner Profile: World Vision Canada
December 19, 2014
At Kinbrace we believe in partnership. Working together helps us better achieve our purpose of providing the very best welcome and support for people in Canada’s refugee protection system.
Kinbrace is partnering with World Vision Canada’s Partners to End Child Poverty program, working to see refugee claimant families experience meaningful integration into systems and relationships in the Canadian community. Launched in 2010, this 5-year Family Integration Project jumped into action assisting 8 of the Tamil refugee claimant families who arrived on the MV Sun Sea, and has since served families from around the world who are making Canada their new home.
World Vision Canada’s purpose is to:
Partner with community-based organizations and churches to strategically respond to Canadian child poverty;
Equip leaders for sustainable growth in achieving their organization’s vision; and
Invest in the peace and well-being of children, youth and families in Canadian cities.
Our capacity has grown significantly through this partnership. All of our staff have engaged in various day-long trainings; two of us are completing the uniquely designed 5-course Graduate Certificate in Non-Profit Management; and 4 of us have completed the intensive LEAP training, enabling us to complete community assessments and design strategic, sustainable projects. In Fall 2014, Kinbrace will embark on World Vision Canada’s rigorous 18-month FreeForm journey to build a strong leadership team and create a comprehensive 3-year strategic plan for the organization.
World Vision Canada’s willingness to be a long-term partner with Kinbrace translates into real-time beyond-poverty opportunities for newcomer families integrating into Canada. And, it also allows Kinbrace to settle into a productive, confident stride in its own growth, helping us fend off the frantic this-way-that-way chase so common to small charities with big hearts.
As funding for our Family Integration Project is weaned from World Vision Canada, we invite you to become our newest partner and invest in the lives of refugee families!
