Kinbrace Summer Camp
December 20, 2014
Every summer the Kinbrace community enjoys a weekend of camping together. This year, with our largest group ever (70 people!), we piled into school buses and travelled out to Maple Ridge, BC for three days of sun and fun.
We started the weekend off with a picnic lunch at Whonnock Lake where we ate watermelon and played in a beautiful lake surrounded by mountains and cedar trees. The rest of the weekend was spent at Camp Whonnock, a Scouts Canada camp just a few kilometres away from the lake. We enjoyed delicious meals (cooked by our amazing volunteer crew), watched World Cup matches, hiked on a nearby trail, roasted marshmallows, played soccer, and danced the night away with dances from around the world.
The Kinbrace summer camping trip is a unique opportunity for people to relax, connect with friends, and step away from the stresses of life in the city. For some, camping was a brand new experience and for others it was a much-anticipated trip back into the beauty of creation. We were grateful for a sunny weekend, a hospitable location, and many good friends to share the time with.
