Community Life

We value the opportunities that come from living together.

  • working on a resume or immigration form
  • playing a game of basketball in the backyard
  • making handmade tortillas for the community meal
  • learning language
  • teaching a new dance
  • planting and watering the gardens
  • eating together

Isolation – with its loneliness – can be very disorienting and unsettling for all of us.  We work to be a community where we welcome, trust, and affirm each other.

We gather together to share meals, tell stories, honour birthdays, grieve losses, and extend support to one-another. We welcome the daily joys and struggles of life together. We are aware of how our own stories are made more beautiful and complete when they include the stories of others.

Build Community

One of the marvelous things about community is that it enables us to welcome and help people in a way we couldn’t as individuals. When we pool our strength and share the work and responsibility, we can welcome many people, even those in deep distress, and perhaps help them find self-confidence and inner healing.
